. The Banks Peninsula, as well as the gorgeous Southern Alps and legendary Canterbury Plains, are all within easy reach of Christchurch, which serves as a basecamp for South Island adventure.

This small South Pacific country (made up of 10 islands) packs plenty of visual drama with its seriously gorgeous beaches and awesome waterfalls and natural-rock pools.

The Cook Islands are 15 tiny specks in the South Pacific, between Samoa and French Polynesia. . Muri Lagoon (Rarotonga) and One Food Island (Aitutaki) are dreamy spots with warm water, powdery sand, and swaying palm trees.

The main island, located about 230 kilometres northwest of Papeete, is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. In the center of the island are the remnants of an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, Mount Bootyus and Mount Otemanu, the highest point at 727 metres .
